Rizhao Oriental Motor Co.,Ltd. was established in 2013 and is a national high-tech enterprise. It operates two industrial production bases, located in Rizhao City, Shandong Province, and Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. As one of the earliest domestic companies to specialize in large- and medium-sized low-speed, high-torque permanent‑magnet motors and their intelligent drive systems for industrial applications, the company integrates research and development, manufacturing, testing, sales, and service. With deep expertise in niche market segments, it has become a technology leader in China’s permanent‑magnet motor industry.

The company has assembled a team of experts in motor design, intelligent control, mechanical transmission, and engineering applications, all with extensive practical experience and strong innovative capabilities. It is equipped with a variety of specialized CNC machining centers, advanced testing equipment, and a state-of-the-art comprehensive test and evaluation center for the performance of permanent‑magnet motors.

The company has established a first‑class domestic R&D platform for mechatronic integration, encompassing industry, academia, and research. It houses an academician workstation, the Permanent‑Magnet Motor Application Technology Research Institute, the Shandong Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Permanent‑Magnet Motors, and has been recognized as a “specialized, refined, distinctive, and innovative” enterprise. In collaboration with the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the company has set up a research and development base for low‑speed, high‑torque permanent‑magnet motor systems, capable of independently undertaking major national-level scientific research projects.

For more than a decade, the company has closely aligned its product development with market demands and users’ practical needs, forging a path of parallel advancement in both permanent‑magnet direct‑drive technology and integrated permanent‑magnet motor systems. It holds numerous national patents and proprietary technologies for permanent‑magnet motors and intelligent drive systems, and has participated in the drafting of six group standards for permanent‑magnet motors, thereby shaping the development trajectory of low‑speed, heavy‑load, high‑torque permanent‑magnet motors and their intelligent drive systems.

The company’s product portfolio spans a wide power range (11 kW to 5,800 kW) and an extensive speed range (5 r/min to 600 r/min), covering multiple voltage levels (380 V to 10 kV). It has achieved series‑based, standardized, modular, and large‑scale production, with broad applications across numerous industries, including cement and building materials, coal mining, port terminals, water conservancy projects, rubber and plastics processing, and iron and steel metallurgy. Notably, in the cement sector—roller presses, ball mills, and bucket elevators; in the coal industry—roadheaders, large belt conveyors, and scraper conveyors; and in the water‑conservation field—high‑pressure, high‑power, low‑speed pumps—as well as in ports—high‑ and low‑voltage belt conveyors, gantry cranes, and bucket‑wheel excavators—the company has delivered major breakthroughs in innovative permanent‑magnet motor drive technologies, yielding significant social and economic benefits.

About Us

SINCE 2013

Tracing the origins, as early as July 2012, the founding team—led by Chairman Zhang Kecheng and Vice Chairman Zhang Jianhua—had already conceived the idea of researching and developing a low-speed, high-torque permanent‑magnet intelligent drive system. They defined the company’s future market positioning and articulated the “Four‑Benefit Principle”—benefiting the nation, the people, the enterprise, and oneself—placing the miniaturization and modularity of permanent‑magnet motors at the heart of their R&D efforts. Beginning in October 2012, the team conducted field surveys and benchmarking across the country, laying the groundwork for the development of permanent‑magnet motors.

※In early 2013, the electromagnetic design was completed;
※On June 4, 2013, Rizhao Dongfang Electric Motor Co., Ltd. was officially registered and established;
※The preliminary design of the motor structure was completed in August 2013.

2014

※On February 22, 2014, the co‑driving test between the hydraulic motor and the permanent‑magnet motor was successfully completed.
※ Leased a factory on Shanghai Road and commenced R&D on the second-generation product;
※The first second-generation product was delivered in October 2014;
※On this basis, we completed the bucket-wheel excavator renovation project and initiated the feasibility study and implementation of the Xidaying Pumping Station water conservancy project.

2015

※ The first submersible axial-flow pump was manufactured and has been in continuous, stable operation at the Xidaying Pump Station to this day.
※The company has relocated to No. 36 Fuyang Road;
※Leaders from the Motor Research Institute of the Shanghai Academy of Electrical Sciences visited Rizhao Dongfang Electric Motor Co., Ltd. to discuss potential collaboration.
※The company has initiated research and development of a new‑generation drive system, resulting in a prototype of an integrated low‑speed, high‑torque permanent‑magnet motor. This solution provides tailored capabilities for aerial work, underground operations, and specialized environmental applications, laying the groundwork for a modular drive system and establishing a design concept that combines a low‑speed motor with a single‑stage reduction gear and a rotor with a dovetail groove.

2016

※Leaders from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology visited Rizhao Dongfang Electric Motor and highlighted three key product advantages: energy efficiency, material conservation, and space optimization.
※ Upon the approval of the leadership of the High-tech Zone Management Committee, the land located in the Electronic Information Industrial Park was sold to Rizhao Dongfang Electric Motor, and construction has been arranged.
※ Through cooperation with Rizhao Port Zhonglian Cement Co., Ltd., the company entered the cement industry;
※This product has been included in the “2016 National Key Promotion Catalog of High-Efficiency, Energy-Saving Motors.”

2017

※The company has moved to a new location, gaining its own dedicated production space.
※ Under the leadership of the Chairman, high‑strength magnetic‑shielding materials were selected, machining precision was enhanced, a feasibility study was completed, and innovative process workflows were established, culminating in the successful development of the fourth‑generation product.
※ Academician Tang Renyuan and Academician Gu Guobiao visited our company to provide guidance and jointly established an academician workstation.

※ Awarded the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Achievements by the China Machinery Industry;
※Establishment of the Shandong Provincial Permanent-Magnet Motor Engineering Laboratory;
※ “High-Power Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor Technology for Low-Speed Pumps” has been included in the “2019 Key Promotion and Guidance Catalogue of Advanced and Practical Water Conservancy Technologies.” ※The first 900 kW high-voltage water-cooled roll press equipped with a permanent-magnet motor has been successfully deployed at Jimo Zhonglian.
※The first dual-drive hoist has been put into service at Shan Aluminum Environmental New Materials.

2020

※Two types of permanent-magnet motors for pumps have been included in the “2020 Key Promotion and Guidance Catalogue of Advanced and Practical Water Conservancy Technologies.”
※ The explosion-proof integrated unit for mining, jointly developed with Huatian Xinxin, has rolled off the production line, realizing the concept of integrating the motor, reducer, and variable-frequency drive, thereby fulfilling the original vision of unified intelligent control.

2021

※The first high-pressure air-cooled belt conveyor equipped with a permanent-magnet motor has been put into operation at Rizhao Port Company No. 2.
※ For the bulk-to-container project, we have selected permanent‑magnet motors for belt conveyors manufactured by our company.

2022

※ In collaboration with Nanjing Gear, the country’s largest single-unit 2,400 kW roller press equipped with a permanent‑magnet motor has officially entered operation.
※ The integrated permanent-magnet motor for straight‑axis elevators, developed in collaboration with Nanjing Gear, has rolled off the production line.
※ The “High-Voltage, High-Power, Low-Speed, High-Torque Permanent-Magnet Motor for Vertical Axial-Flow Pumps” has been included in the “2022 Key Promotion and Guidance Catalogue of Advanced and Practical Water Conservancy Technologies.”
※The organization has developed six group standards for permanent-magnet motors.

2023

※ An exchange meeting was held on “Deep-Level Environmental Governance and Intelligent Manufacturing for Coal and Electricity Conservation under the Context of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality in the Cement Industry.”
※ The domestically largest single-unit 1650 kW explosion-proof integrated machine for mining, developed in collaboration with China Tianxin, has rolled off the production line and been delivered.
