Product Description

Due to the relatively low rotational speed of the ball mill cylinder—15 to 25 revolutions per minute—conventional drive systems using standard electric motors would require the installation of costly reduction gearboxes. This drive system comprises a high-speed induction motor and a reducer, which together impart rotational motion to the mill cylinder.

Since a mill is a low-speed, heavy-load, constant-speed machine, its drive system must handle high power with a large gear ratio. During startup, the drive must overcome both the frictional losses in the transmission and the effective torque generated by the shifting center of gravity of the grinding charge. By adopting a permanent‑magnet synchronous motor drive, the small pinion is directly coupled to the main gear via a coupling, thereby driving the large gear and the mill shell. This approach reduces power transmission losses, resulting in a significant improvement in drive efficiency compared with conventional methods.
